For a Baldacci Family Vineyards limited edition release, it’s all about the barrels.

To craft The Thomas Collection vintages, winemaker Michael Baldacci traveled to the ancient oak forests in France to hand-select oak trees for the barrels in which to age the wine. After curating the finest oak, Baldacci worked with Master Cooper Quinn Roberts of longstanding cooperage partner Tonnellerie Ô to determine a nuanced toasting and barrel finish.

“You really don’t hear much about winemakers going to the forest and being a part of the barreling process and seeing it from the ground level up,” Baldacci says. I’ve been doing it for 10 years, and it’s just kind of grown from there.”
